Surrounded by much deeper water, the catamaran anchors right by the sandbar. There are floats for everyone and rum punches, beers etc. Very relaxing and different afternoon. We stopped here while we were on Independence of the Seas. The nice perk about this place was that due to the fact that RCI owned the area we could use our drink packages here while visiting Labadee. We came on a not so sunny day so sadly our excursion was canceled last minute which was a total bummer. Everyone was very friendly and it seemed as though the beaches were clean.
Which is always a plus!! We did book through our travel agent Kathy at Beach Bum Vacations and although they obviously cannot predict the weather - she did help us determine which ports would be good therefore picking the Independence of the Seas.
We stopped here as part of our Cruise on Royal Caribbean Allure. The beaches were nice and the people were friendly. The water was not very clear and it had lots of rocks and broken shells on the bottom. We did not do the zip line because it looked like fun but the price was absurdly high. We shopped a bit and the selection was good but all the stuff for sale looked like home made crafts.
I think that relates to how poor the country is. I felt bad for the Haitian people. They seem like they have nothing. The salespersons are high pressure but I don't blame them for this as the only chance they have to sell their wares are when a cruise ship is in port.
Over all this is an OK place to visit and RC has done their best to make it a theme park but we headed back to the ship early. Some of the other passengers we spoke to had been there before; one young couple in particular said that it was their favorite stops of all the ones Royal Caribbean makes. They were not wrong. We got there at about 8 AM. Beautiful weather, slight breeze. A small fleet of waverunners and other watercraft all flying the Haitian flag greeted us, buzzing up near the ship and waving.
